Position: Developmental Investment Analyst-Alternative Investment

Reports to: Manager: Alternative Investments
Purpose of the Position:
- Developmental investments comprise GIPF investments that drive socioeconomic impact, particularly Infrastructure and SMMEs. This designation is an integral member of the team responsible for valuing the Developmental Investment portfolio. The position involves support for monitoring all developmental mandates, quarterly valuation preparation, review, reporting and analytics.
Key Performance Areas:
- Review and analyze the quarterly reports and annual financial statements of the various infrastructure and SMME funds.
- Designing criteria and parameters for research analysis on market trends, strategies, industries, sectors geographies and other topics as required
- Validate valuations of capital call notices.
- Monitoring and managing the portfolio of existing investments to ensure compliance with the terms of the limited partnership agreement and other contracts.
- Assist with Fund Manager Selection and operational due diligence.
- Liaise with the Manager. Legal office and consultant in negotiating terms and conditions of new mandates and other related contracts
- Personal effectiveness competency and development.
Job-related qualifications and experience:
- B-Commerce/Flnance/Economics
- 4 years’ experience in fund/asset management environment with at least 2 years’ experience in infrastructure finance
- Financial modeling/fcroject appraisal
- Coursework/training in infrastructure and financing.
- CAIA. FMVA. PPP certification advantageous
The incumbent should have the following knowledge, skills and Attributes:
- Knowledge of:
Investment instruments available, understanding IPEV Valuation guidelines. GIPF mandate, regulations 13 of pension funds act. public private partnership legislation, private equity industry, national development plans and financial statement analysis.
- Skill:
Analytical, interpersonal, networking, supervisory, presentation skills, excel, financial modelling and negotiation skills.
- Personal Attributes:
Detail conscious, calm disposition, conceptual, discreet, integrity, emotional and inter-cultural intelligence, work under pressure, independent thinker, service oriented, professional/exceptional business ethics and lateral thinking.
