VACANCY: JUNIOR LECTURER – NAVIGATION DEPARTMENT

Key Performance Areas

Prepare and present lectures to students and attend to some administrative tasks in the Department and the Institute. The ideal candidate will be an experienced seafarer with extensive knowledge of operations onboard a vessel as an officer in charge of a watch (3^WOfficer in a non-fishing vessel or Chief Officer in a fishing vessel).

Qualifications and experience required:

Deck Officer Class 4/3 STCW 95 Level, with minimum of 3 years seagoing experience on seagoing vessels or
A Deck Officer Class 5 (Mate 1) STCW95F. with a minimum of 6 years seagoing experience on fishing vessels.
Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
Computer Literacy

The following experience and skills are added advantages for this position:

Ship stability and Cargo handling
Navigation and Bridge team management
Electronic Navigation Systems
Valid GMDSS Certificate
Teaching or instructing experience
Valid Code 08 driver’s license
