As part of USAID/Namibia’s DREAMS programming for vulnerable adolescent girls and young women (AG YW), ACHIEVE will implement DREAMS interventions m two geographic regions (4 districts) Jhplego. through ACHIEVE. Is looking for following positions that win be working with ACHIEVE Namibia team to Implement DREAMS activities
GENDER AND CHILD PROTECTION OFFICERS (X4);
DUTY STATION: OSHAKATI; RUNOU; ANDARA; AND NYANGANA
Responsibilities:
- Ensuro daily quality implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Gender-based violence and Child Protection interventions
- Establish and maintain contact with local statutory agencies including the police and social services.
- Engage with the community and community representatives to understand needs and gaps in Gender-based violence and Child Protection programming
Assist to interpret the child rights policy and procedures to the DREAMS project staff and community about protection concerns that children are facing and promote the participation of children in all matters affecting their lives.
■ Support Gender-based violence including Violence against Children cases in the context of DREAMS received at the facility and identified in the community through the provision of case management services to respond to the needs of clients, provide them information and resources to access services and make appropriate referrals to other service providers if required.
- Incorporate a survivor/client-centered approach in all health facilities.
- Assist to interpret the child rights policy and procedures to the DREAMS project staff and community about protection concerns that children are facing and promote the participation of children in ail matters affecting their lives
- Organize and lead psychosocial support activities at DREAMS safe spaces when noocted
- Ensure strict adherence to confidentiality for all case-related information, protect the identities of clients in the design and implementation of all activities
- Assess the knowledge and utilization of health and other services available for survivors of GBV
- Ensure updated filing and documentation of Gender-based violence and Child Protection cases in line with standard M&E tools.
- Alert the regonal/national officials of any gaps tn process, tools, or staff capacities to meet the needs of clients or ensure confidentiality and survivor-centered care.
- Engage in continuous professional development for the purposes of increasing the quality and depth of other staff work
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor s Degree in social work.
- Registered as a Social Worker with the Health Professions Councils of Namibia (HPCNA)
- Minimum three years experience working as a social worker dealing with GBV and Child Protection issues.
- Demonstrated Experience working with the Child Care Protection
- Experience/Trained in Lives (Identifying Violence and First bne Support Services) Approach will be an added advantage.
- Good communication skills and ability to conduct training and awareness.
- Computer skills (Microsoft Outlook. Word. Excel).
- Good organizational and management skills.
