PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Provides strategic leadership to the Port Operations Department of the Namibian Ports Authority (Namport) to maximize cargo throughput enhance operational efficiencies and heighten customer satisfaction levels so as to generate and increase revenue for the overall sustainability of the business.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Develop, implement and consistently monitor port operational plans to achieve the company’s strategic objectives aimed at driving operational efficiencies and optimize sustainable business and revenue growth;
- Direct all aspects of Namport’s key revenue generating operations and services at the Ports ofWalvis Bay and Luderitz in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner, to maximize customer satisfaction levels, operating revenue and business profitability;
J • Drive the growth of business volumes throughput through the Ports ofWalvis Bay and Luderitz to ensure optimal return on investments, J revenue generation and medium to long term growth;
J • Oversee departmental compliance with safety, health and 3 environmental regulations as well as sound corporate governance 1 principles;
J • Manage departmental risk in line with the organisational risk I management framework;
I • Develop and coordinate effective working relationships with key stakeholders including managing compliance with provisions of service level agreements between Namport and stakeholders;
- Lead, coordinate and manage diverse teams (terminals, terminal planning, technical services, Ports of Luderitz and Walvis Bay)
- Develop and manage departmental annual operational and capital budgets and expenditure;
- Manage and establish human capital excellence in the department; and
- Monitor performance of port operations activities using key metrics and prepare reports for senior management;
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Management, Logistics, Transport Engineering or related field;
- An MBA, relevant Master’s Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management;
- A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in the field of Business, Logistics, Transport, Operations or Engineering of which 5 years should be at senior management capacity with specific operational focus;
- Strategic leadership and excellent communication skills;
- Business acumen matched with good influencing and negotiation skills;
- Service and results orientation;
- Strong interpersonal management and relationship building skills;
- Innovative and creative thinking;
- Project management skills, and
- Networking skills.
