1X POST: SENIOR ACCOUNTANT:
REVENUE & DEBTORS CONTROL (PATERSON D1)

JOB SUMMARY: To ensure that all outstanding debts are collected in accordance with Council’s policies and procedures. To ensure the effective and efficient running of the division in conjunction with the immediate superior, welfare of staff and the effective collection of all revenue and the control thereof and the recording of all income received.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Auditing or related with 3 years’ experience in a similar or related position
• Drivers License Code B

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

1. Knowledge of Government Finance & Personnel rules, regulations, policies and procedures (Local Authority Act, State Finance Act, Public procurement Act etc).
2. Knowledge of Accounting principles practice, GAAP, IAS, IPSAS, IFRS etc
3. Knowledge of budgeting and budget control
4. Knowledge of payroll accounting
5. Supervisory skills
6. Staff development needs analysis and training
7. Knowledge of principles, practices and methods of property and equipment inventory management, (asset register)
8. Knowledge of audit principles and practice
9. Knowledge of accounting software (munisoft)
10. Good Communication skills
11. Analytical and arithmetic skills
