1X POST: SUPERINTENDENT:
LAW ENFORCEMENT, DISASTER
RISK & FIRE MANAGEMENT (PATERSON D1)
JOB SUMMARY: To plan, manage and control the administrative and operational activities of the Traffic, disaster risk and fire Sections to ensure an efficient and effective traffic-, vehicle-& driver testing and registration service within the Magistrate District of Katima Mulilo, upgrade the town’s disaster plan annually, and to implement and enforce regulations and procedures in designed to contribute to a safe and secure working environment for all municipal employees in accordance with the requirements as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Labour Act. 11 of 2007).
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Law enforcement, crime prevention & road safety promotion
- Fire Fighting and Prevention
- Staff supervision
- Financial control and administration
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
- Graduate Diploma in Fire Fighting plus 5 years’ experience including exposure to civil defence/ security and occupational health and safety
- Basic Traffic Diploma plus Institute of Traffic Officers (ITO) (2) plus five years’ experience.
- Transport Management (2), Road Safety Management (2) will be an added advantage
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Registration as Traffic Officer
- Registration as Peace I Law Enforcement Officer
- Namibian Citizen
- Driving license Code A, CE and PA.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Computer literacy
- Strong supervisory skills
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills
- Customer Service orientation
- Assertiveness, high degree of integrity and able to take responsibility
