Drilling Assistant – B2Gold

Introduction

To assist the Drill Operators in carrying out drilling related activities at the Mining Department at the B2Gold Otjikoto Mine.

Job description

Drilling

• Assist with staking of drilling blocks
• Assist with demarcation of drilling blocks
• Measure drilled holes depths after drilling
• Assist with GET removal and handling
• Clean drills and do overall housekeeping in the drills and drilling block
• Assist with bit and hammer changes on drills
• Spot drills when moving or from hole to hole
• Clean around the drill holes and close out the drilled holes with sandbags or cones
• Perform drilling related work safely and in accordance with the company procedures
• Assist with blasting when charging holes, as required

Health, Safety and Environmental.

• Ensure compliance to all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures
• Maintain a safe working environment and keeping the assigned work area clean and tidy
• Complete site and area specific inductions
• Complete Core Safety training modules which include but are not limited to: HIRA, JSA, Pre-Task Risk Assessments etc.

Minimum requirements

• Grade 10
• Minimum one (1) year experience in a mining environment
• Code B driver’s license will be an added advantage
