SENIOR AUTOMATION TECHNICIAN
Reporting to the Electrical and Automation Maintenance Manager, the Senior Automation Technician is responsible for full availability and functionality of the plant DCS system (Siemens PCS7) and any sub control PLC systems at Ohorongo Cement. This position is based between Otavi & Tsumeb, at Plant Sargberg.
Responsibilities
• Install, configure, program, modify and maintain DCS systems for every department and every process of a complex cement plant.
• Ensures correct and proper communication between the different equipment of the control systems.
• Responsible to do fault finding and programming on all automation equipment and control systems. Including the Siemens PCS7, Step7, WinCC, VSD, Simocode and any other programmable devices in co-operation with the supplier (Thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions and Siemens), the engineering department and production department.
• Maintains highest reliability of all control system components and trouble-shoots in case of bad performance.
Requirements
• Relevant degree as electrical/electronic/instrumentation technician.
• Excellent knowledge of instrumentation equipment components, parts and functioning.
• Knowledge of Siemens S7 and PCS7 is a requirement.
• Good fault finding skills. Ability to perform trouble shooting between DCS systems and PLC.
• Structured approach to work planning, execution and record-keeping.
• Read and interpret electrical / control and instrumentation schematics (SLD, P&ID, specifications).
• Knowledge of basic investigation techniques and methods.
• Basic knowledge of relevant health and safety and discipline specific legislation
• Ability to work in a rapid paced environment to handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills. Ability to work extremely accurately.
• Must be able to work independently, but also in team situations.
• Not afraid to work on heights and confined spaces.
• Honest and trustworthy.
• Fluency in English is a prerequisite
