Introduction
We are looking for a General Manager to oversee all staff, budgets, and operations of a local business unit.
Responsibilities include formulating overall strategy, managing people, and establishing policies. To be successful in this role, you should be a thoughtful leader and a confident decision-maker, helping people develop and be productive while ensuring profits are on the rise. The general manager of the milling operations position will require a very strong candidate that has high top-level management experience.

Specification
- Oversee and improve manufacturing operations, establishing and driving production goals, and developing organizational structures.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standard operating procedures, providing resources and training.
- Oversee employee hiring, training, development, and management, providing guidance to leadership teams.
- Develop performance and efficiency metrics, identifying areas for improvement, and reporting results to executive leadership.
- Manage finances, monitoring budgets, expenses, and product unit costs to drive revenue and margin projections.
- Budget development and overseeing implementation and monitoring through the accounts department.
- Oversee marketing department, procurement, and input warehousing department, finished product and dispatch, financial management, administration, and maintenance.
- Ensures constant monitoring of production efficiencies in the factory and strives to achieve optimal operating performance and minimal downtime.
- Develops, revises, and improves standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
- Ensure proper emphasis on product quality and review/develop quality assurance sampling procedures
- Ensures consistent and high levels of the customer experience through the management of production, from input receipt and quality analysis to output presentation and delivery and after-sales support.
- Ensures the use of approved maintenance management systems to track costs and failure rates.
- Implementing training programs for employee development and ensuring adequate back-up of personal for key positions.
- Monitoring diets used in maize meal production and working with nutritionists for lowest cost diet formulations.
- Developing and ensuring adequate reporting procedures throughout the company.
- Providing regular reports to the Managing Director.
- Managing operational transitions through company expansion phases.
- Managing capital development projects such as silo installations, construction projects, factory installation projects, etc.
- Provide solutions to issues (e.g. profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors).
Requirements
At least 5 years experience in a similar role.
Maize meal production experience would be valuable.
Top Level Management Experience in organization with greater than N$10 million expected.
A very high level of computer literacy is essential.
Strong analytical ability.
Excellent communication skills.
Outstanding organizational and leadership skills.
Problem-solving aptitude.
Experience in planning and budgeting.
