LARGE STONES VALUATOR:
Suitably qualified applicants are therefore invited to forward their applications for the position of Large Stones Valuator, which is in the Operations Department and reports to the Process Manager: Large Stones.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB AND KEY OUTPUTS: As a member of the Large Stones Department, the jobholder is responsible for accurately and consistently presenting shipments directly for market pricing by establishing the optimum technical value on +10.8ct diamonds and Fancy Colours. Accurate valuation and consistent presentation are paramount to key stakeholder confidence and good relations.
Full training will be provided and the jobholder will be expected to rise to the level of Specialist (unsupervised). Training include a three (3) month short term assignment to partner companies for skills enhancement.
Education:
- A pass in Grade 12
- Computer literacy
- Competence in Sarine,
- Numerate literate and familiar with the Microsoft Office skill suite
- Familiar with Rough to Polished terminology
Relevant Experience:
- Excellent knowledge of polished models, and the ability to envisage the polished stone within the rough
- A minimum of 2 years experience planning rough to best outcome
- A highly skilled planner and advanced Sarine user, expertise with Helium/Oxygen software
- Extensive understanding of operational and security
- Proven experience and ability to accurately mark stones to illustrate manufacturing process
- A good team worker with experience of training and developing others in a planning role
- Demonstrable ability to accurately predict
- Gemological Institute of America polished in a rough stone

- Diamond Manufacturing knowledge at an advanced level
- Advanced understanding of Rough to Polished
- Advanced knowledge of GIA Polished grading

- Good written and oral communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
- Attention to detail and quality
