Safety Technician
Job Introduction The Safety Technician ensures that all personnel complies with the Company’s established safety policies
and procedures. This is accomplished through fostering a culture of safety among rig crew
personnel and third parties, by leading and encouraging participation in safety meetings. The
Safety Technician conducts safety inspections on an on-going basis and works with the Company
Man and Rig Manager to resolve findings. The Safety Technician may be certified in first aid and
CPR and may be required to utilize this medical knowledge and skills as the first line of care
during an incident.
Specification
Adhere to Company policies, guidelines, and work requirements;
Control location, meet and greet all those requesting entries to the well location. Provide a site-specific orientation to all non-routine personnel;
Ensure MSDS books are up-to-date and readily available;
Display safety leadership with active participation at pre-tour safety meetings and pre-job safety meetings;
Actively encourage, coach, and participate in proactive safety culture with all rig crew and third party personnel;
Verify Lock-out Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures are being followed when equipment is being serviced;
Conduct inspections, walkthroughs, and audits;
Report all inspection findings and safety violations to the Rig Manager and/or Company Man;
If an incident occurs, assist the Company Man and Rig Manager with necessary steps to control the incident. Ensure first aid is administered to any injured individuals, coordinate getting any injured individuals to a medical facility by the appropriate means of transportation. Once the incident is under control, assist the Company Man and Rig;
Manager in writing an incident report;
Wear required PPE and inspect safety equipment and PPE for wear and replace as needed;
Requirements
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
At least five years of related industrial emergency response and safety work experience is preferred.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Proficient knowledge and experience in the Incident Command Structure (ICS);
Willingness and ability to respond to call-outs and emergencies beyond working hours as required and during off-hours, weekends, days off, and holidays, and work 12-hour shifts for extended times when necessary;
Computer skills including competency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and similar to write shift logs, incident reports, response summaries, post response critiques, audits, observations, and similar;
