Opportunity | Duty Description
As a Registered Nurse, providing quality cervical cancer screening with Visual Inspection using Acetic Acid (VIA) for Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART) patients, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following key result areas:
Opportunity | Duty Requirement(s)
- Implement improved cervical cancer screening through VIA.
- Conduct cryotherapy or thermocoagulation treatment.
- Provide follow up care relevant to treatment plan and outcomes.
- Referral of patients to medical officers, counsellors, social workers, or other care, and support services in the health system or community, where necessary treatment cannot be provided by the clinic.
- Close collaboration with clinical and training counterparts.
- Provide screening services for HIV positive women, at clinical level.
- Request appropriate laboratory and clinical investigations, interpret results, and provide appropriate medical care as well as participation in data review and quality improvement processes.
- Develop, maintain, and implement a systematic approach to patient recruitment for VIA.
- Provide patient education on cervical cancer and HIV/AIDS.
- Engagement in VIA, Nurse Initiated Management of Anti-Retroviral Treatment (NIMART), Opportunistic infections (OIs), and ART training, including participation through platforms such as Project Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO) and Digital Video Conferencing (DVC).
- Provide regular reports on formal quality improvement projects to ensure the highest quality of cervical cancer screening care all facilities.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings.
- Follow any lawful and reasonable instructions, as assigned by reporting line.
- Collect, collate, and organise cervical cancer data for monthly and quarterly reports.
- Immediate reporting of any adverse event to supervisor and processing relevant documentation of the event to the relevant office.
- Order and maintain an appropriate level of equipment, stationary, and supplies at all times.
- Ensure high standard infection control in VIA clinics.
- Implement a quality improvement approach to cervical cancer screening and document all related activities.
- Participate in relevant operational research.
Added Advantages | Special Requirement(s)
- Degree/Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery. Any additional qualification would be an added advantage.
- Qualification in Public Health, Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OBGYN), Infectious Diseases, or similar area would be an added advantage.
- Valid practicing card and registration with the Namibia Interim Nursing Council.
- Experience in cervical cancer screening and PAP smears would be an added advantage.
- Experience in the treatment of HIV would be an advantage.
- Experience in women’s health is preferred.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times. Ability to create a conducive atmosphere for patients, relatives, and colleagues.
