Radiation Therapist

Opportunity | Duty Description

• Safely and accurately delivers the correct radiotherapy treatment to patients.
• Maintains accurate records of a patient’s treatment regimen.
• Observes radiation safety measures for patients and personnel.
• Explains procedures to patients and helps patients to understand the potential side effects of radiation treatment and how to manage any associated side effects.
• Assists in performing simulations, tumour localization procedures and preparation of immobilization devices, etc.
• Performs and documents daily accelerator warm-up and QA procedures.
• Assumes weekly on-call status on a rotation basis.
• Incorporates department and hospital policies and procedures.
• Assists in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly department.

Added Advantages | Special Requirement(s)

• A relevant Degree in Therapeutic Radiography or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of clinical experience, recent clinical experience working with linear accelerators
• Experience in VMAT/RapidArc/advanced treatment techniques
• Experience with Mosaiq software and Elekta linacs preferred
• Experience in treatment planning is advantageous
• Working experience within Private Healthcare Institution advantageous
• Strong organisational skills & leadership skills
• Proven work ethic and ability to work under pressure
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with patients and colleagues
• Fluency in English, additional languages will be an advantage
• Demonstrable evidence of IT skills
• Current registration with the Allied Health Professions Council division of the Health Professions Council of Namibia
• Namibian citizenship or residency status
