Duties

Position Purpose & Summary

The incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all mechanical equipment and machinery used within the operation, in order to reduce all equipment downtime and increase plant availability. It will also be expected of the incumbent to assist in the construction, fabrication, installation and fitting of new equipment and/or components.

The key performance areas include:

Perform lubrication services on all equipment as required.

Perform timely inspections on plant and equipment, and ensure inspection sheets are complete.

Perform general services on equipment as required.

Perform job specific risk assessments.

Liaise with contractors during services, as internal Maintenance Team.

Identify equipment worn parts that needs replacement.

Identify equipment and worn parts that frequently require repairs/replacement

Requirements:

Minimum N3 Fitting & Turning Trade Diploma, with 2 – 5 years’ experience with plant and earthmoving equipment.

Valid driver’s licence.

Knowledge/experience in the following: Mechanical (Fitting and turning, Instrumentation, Basic electrical); On-the-job risk assessments; Plant inspections and completion of checklists; Attention to equipment functioning.

Sound knowledge of the ISO Quality system.

Must be in possession of a valid drivers’ license
