MICROBIOLOGIST

JOB GRADING – PATERSON C 3 DUTY STATION – WALVIS BAY

 Primary purpose of position:

To perform various microbiological tests on food, environmental and water samples.

To perform quality control, assurance and co-ordinate the technical quality control and assurance activities in the Microbiology section by assignment.

To perform the requirement of the quality management system and procedures of the Testing Centre based on the requirement of the quality management system ISO/IEC 17025 and accreditation body.

 

 Educational requirement:

Bachelor’s degree of four (4) years In Microbiology (BSc in Microbiology) or Molecular Biology (BSc Molecular biology). NQF Level 7

 

 Experience requirement:

Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a microbiology laboratory environment. Code B Driving License, minimum two (2) years driving experience.

 

 

 Skills & knowledge requirement:

Laboratory techniques and procedures

ISO 17025/Quality Management Systems

Knowledge of applications of technical regulations/guidelines Laboratory instrument handling techniques

Principles of laboratory housekeeping Computer Literacy

Aseptic techniques

Planning and Organising Detail orientated

 Key Performance Area

Perform test for isolation and identification of micro-organisms form samples.

Compliance with quality management system in the laboratory. Perform administration and logistical duties.

Maintain laboratory hygiene and housekeeping to prevent cross contamination
