THE POSITION: UTILITY PLANT OPERATOR

6 months Contract
The incumbent will report to the Acid Plant Field Operator and will be accountable for:

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Inspecting the flow rates of all utility streams and making sure that required throughputs are obtained.

· Inspecting all the plant equipment such as pumps, air and water lines and stations.

· Communicating with the Control Room Operator, for safe start and stop of the Utility sections.

· Inspecting and reporting any defects on all the plant safety equipment, safety showers, fire extinguishers and life rings at the Utility section.

· Taking regular H2O and sulphuric acid samples and submitting these to the main Laboratory.

· Monitoring and keeping record of all the plant reagents and communicate the information to the Shift Foremen daily.

· Analyzing the pH and conductivity of all the water samples on site.

· Analyzing the acid strength of the plant H2SO4 samples on site.

· General housekeeping.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Grade 12 with a minimum of 23 points, (D) symbol in Mathematics and Physical Science.

· Two (2) years working experience in a metallurgical plant.

· Experience as a Utility Operator in a Sulphuric Acid Plant or similar environment (will be an added advantage).

· Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team.

· Good problem solving and fault-finding skills.

· Ability to work with minimum supervision.

· Good knowledge in the Microsoft Office Suite.

· Code B driver’s license.
