Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of load and haul performance by monitoring and tracking LHD and truck utilisation in real time, including scheduled, available, and productive hours.
- Implement and drive compliance with the Operator Care Programme, ensuring adherence to pre-shift inspections, monitoring operator-induced defects, and enforcing proper defect reporting and classification.
- Contribute to the reduction of unplanned mobile fleet downtime by analysing operator-related breakdown trends and linking performance outcomes to short-term incentive targets.
- Manage daily ore and waste logistics, ensuring disciplined execution of clean faces, drawpoint sequencing, tip configurations, and optimised truck cycle times, with minimal operational deviations.
- Align daily load and haul performance with weekly ore delivery targets and stockpile requirements, ensuring that any production shortfalls are identified, escalated, and addressed.
- Ensure structured and comprehensive shift handovers, including clear documentation of equipment status, performance against targets, and timely escalation of critical issues.
- Coordinate planned maintenance activities with the Maintenance Engineer to optimise fleet availability and prevent any unplanned disruption to production.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Valid Underground Mine Blasting Certificate.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a mining environment, with specific exposure to load and haul operations.
- Proven experience at Mine Superintendent or Senior Underground Mining Engineer level, with a strong focus on load and haul performance.
- Demonstrated expertise in LHD and truck fleet management, utilisation optimisation, cycle time analysis, and drawpoint management.
- Experience in implementing Operator Care Programmes, including structured pre-shift inspection enforcement, defect classification, and consequence management.
- Strong capability in short-interval control within a production environment, including real-time performance tracking and shift-level accountability.
- Experience in shift planning and scheduling, with a demonstrated commitment to effective shift overlap and handover practices.
- Proven ability to coordinate daily with maintenance teams to optimise fleet availability and align planned maintenance activities.
- Valid Code B Driver’s License
- Valid Police Clearance Certificate (not older than 6 months)
