The Position
Reporting to the MARC Site Supervisor. The successful incumbents will perform planned and breakdown repairs, services and maintenance on Caterpillar Equipment.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform repair and maintenance on D11 dozers
- Ensure safe and acceptable turnaround time on machine breakdown repairs
- Perform scheduled interval maintenance on Caterpillar equipment according to required standards
- Attend to in-field breakdowns and repairs on a standby basis
- Conduct interval maintenance inspections as well as daily machine inspections using CAT inspection platforms
- Safely perform in-field replacements of G.E.T (Ground Engaging Tools) and undercarriage components
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of site safety procedures and Barloworld Equipment safety standards as well as adhere to site specific safety standards
- Safely attend to after-hours breakdown repairs when required
Requirements
- Strong technical knowledge of Caterpillar D11 dozers and heavy earthmoving track type equipment
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical faults efficiently
- Knowledge of Caterpillar maintenance standards, inspection procedures, and service intervals
- Experience in GET (Ground Engaging Tools) and undercarriage component replacement
- Ability to perform effective machine inspections using CAT inspection and monitoring platforms
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety standards and safe maintenance practices
- Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to breakdowns and emergency repairs
- Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- Ability to work independently in the field and on a standby/after-hours basis.
- Good communication and teamwork skills when coordinating with operators and supervisors
- CAT certification an added advantage
- Gr.12, passed
- Qualified Earthmoving Mechanic with at least 5 years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy or mining equipment
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working on track-type equipment, including repair and maintenance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) is required
- Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines
- Must be willing to work overtime, attend to after-hours breakdowns, and work on a standby basis when required
- Must be in possession of a Code of Conduct not older than 6 Months
- Must have a Valid Driver’s Licence – manual transmission
- Willingness to relocate to Oranjemund; accommodation in Oranjemund is an advantage
- Valid Overhead crane, forklift and rigging certification to be an advantage
- Accommodation in Oranjemund an added advantage
- Required to be based on MA1 site
