Organization Name: Oshikuku Town Council
To provide financial accounting services in respect of Creditors and Debtors to the Town Council and to ensure integrity of the Council’s financial information in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Identification of the revenue base, cost-saving measures, and expected savings of the Council.
- Addressing queries raised by the external auditors during the annual audit and also those resulting from the audit report.
- Billing system: checks the correctness of the approved new tariffs captured in the system and ensure the monthly bill are prepared on time.
- Verifying journals, debit and credit notes for correctness, accuracy and validity.
- Reviewing the debtor’s age analysis on a monthly basis, sending out regular reminders and making follow up thereon and ensuring that relevant and appropriate actions are taken on outstanding debtors.
- Monitoring day to day spending of all departments and comparing this with the relevant budget allocations.
- Compiling the quarterly and annual income statement.
- Compilation of the draft annual budget for the Council.
- Updating of the fixed asset register on a monthly basis.
- Maintaining records of all bank statements & reconciliations.
- Supervising of subordinates and carrying out any other work-related tasks from time to time assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Grade 12 Certificate and;
- Bachelor’s Degree at NQF Level 7 in Accounting and Finance
- Three (3) years working experience in Accounting and Finance
- Valid Code B Driving Licence
- No Criminal Record (attach a certified copy of Certificate of Conduct not older than 6 months).
- Honour’s Degree at NQF 8 in Accounting and Finance will serve as an added advantage
- FINSTEL Knowledge will serve as an added advantage
- Experience in Local Authorities operation will serve as an added advantage
