Key Responsibilities

• Establishes service by studying system requirements, ordering and gathering components and parts, completing installations and performing acceptance tests on equipment such as X-ray machines, ultrasound machines, CT scanners and MRI machines, as well as infusion pumps, ventilators, defibrillators, nebulisers, dialysis and anaesthesia machines, amongst others
• Serves existing accounts by analysing work orders and planning daily work activities
• Investigates complaints, conducts tests and resolves problems timeously
• Maintains rapport with customers by examining complaints, identifying solutions, suggesting improved methods and techniques and recommending system improvements
• Ensures proper repair and servicing of equipment and devices
• Provides user training on equipment to stakeholders/users in conjunction with the Clinical Applications Specialist
• Checks equipment coming in and going out of the warehouse and workshop
• Prepares quotes for customers on servicing of equipment
• Ensures the proper use of all tools and test equipment in the workshop
• Carries out detailed evaluation of workshop equipment to ensure that they are in good working condition
• Ensures that all installed equipment is operational by following manufacturer recommendations for: 1. troubleshooting breakdowns 2. maintaining supplies (of spare parts and accessories) 3. performing preventive maintenance 4. performing repairs
• Ensures maximum safety of all by observing all safety measures, and reports conditions that are likely to endanger safety
• Adheres to legislation, policies and procedures in terms of safe working conditions
• Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records
• Maintains customer confidence by keeping service information confidential
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications and attending all training as required by the company

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Biomedical Engineering/Electrical Engineering or related field
• Registration with HPCNA an added advantage
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a hospital or clinical environment (preferred)
• Basic knowledge of patient monitoring and life support equipment, medical imaging systems and critical care equipment
• Regional knowledge and ability to form and maintain relationships with clinical staff, with a strong emphasis on professionalism and accountability during interactions
• Ability to quickly develop in-depth knowledge about applicable products and markets, with the ability to read technical manuals and schematics
• Networking and IT basic knowledge for connected medical devices
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
• Flexibility to work late and unscheduled hours, with travel to various regions within the country required (expected overall travel to amount to approximately 50%-60% of normal working hours)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
