Key Responsibilities

• Conduct metallurgical accounting and oversee metal reconciliation processes.
• Monitor product quality, yield, recoveries, and plant throughput to meet production objectives.
• Lead research initiatives and plant trials to test new technologies, reagents, equipment, or processes.
• Implement process improvements to enhance recovery rates, reduce costs, and improve efficiencies.
• Monitor plant performance data to identify trends and root causes of process deviations.
• Provide expert technical support to plant operations teams to resolve process challenges and bottlenecks.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections of process equipment and critical circuits.
• Develop and update process control strategies, operating procedures, and metallurgical standards.
• Prepare, manage, and monitor department budgets.
• Manage staffing, succession planning, performance appraisals, and training programs.
• Foster teamwork, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.
• Ensure effective communication and alignment across all operational units.

Requirements

• Grade 12.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field.
• Ten (10+) years of experience in the industry, plus five (5) years of supervisory or managerial experience, preferably in gold processing.
• Advanced knowledge of metallurgy principles, testing procedures, and mineral processing techniques.
• Strong communication, leadership, project management, and report-writing skills.
• Proven track record in production management, SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality) compliance, and people leadership.
• Physically fit to move in a multiple-stairs environment.
• Good practical knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
