Job Title: Legal Advisor

Primary Purpose of Position
To assist the Head/Manager with reviewing and drafting strategic and complex commercial contracts. In consultation with the supervisor, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in line with NamPost’s Contract Management Framework. To provide comprehensive legal, and advisory services with emphasis on more routine and operational business supporting areas of legal advice and services to enable coverage of the legal services framework of NamPost. To draft review and revise contracts and other legal documentation. Preparing drafts and recommendations to correct proceedings and/or usage, or to maintain courses of action that are legally sound. To provide advice and clarification on specific issues requested from Business Units. To follow up on legal services and processes that have been initiated, towards their intended conclusions, and optimise the favourable impact of legal services to the business value creation processes.

Requirements
- Bachelor of Law Degree (NQF Level 7) 5 years’ experience in a corporate legal environment with specific exposure to contract law and corporate law.
- Admission as a Legal Practitioner will be an added advantage.
- Track record of conceptual ability at an operational level coupled with sound business understanding and commercial judgement.
- Sound analytical thinking; reasoned and constructive in approach.
- Conceptual thinker, attentive to details, very high integrity, organised and good planning abilities.
- Knowledge of the Companies Act and principles of Corporate Governance, Contract law, Labour Act, Procurement Act, Financial Intelligence Act, Post and Telecommunications Act, Banking Act, and their respective determinations, directives, and regulatory frameworks, with particular emphasis on obligations that apply to NamPost in particular.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Sound interpretation of legislation skills.
- Thorough, accurate and details oriented.
- Systematic and organized.
- Clear in expression and able to set boundaries constructively with a service-oriented attitude.
- Code B Driver’s Licence.
