Komsberg Farm, a progressive and quality driven agricultural operation in Namibia, is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Dates Farm Manager to oversee, coordinate, and optimize all operations related to our date palm cultivation, harvesting, and packhouse activities. This key leadership role is ideal for a professional with strong expertise in date farming, crop management, and farm operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the date farm, including planting, irrigation, fertilization, pest management, harvesting, and post-harvest handling.
- Develop and implement farm management plans, SOPs, and schedules to optimize yield, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Monitor farm performance, analyze production data, and recommend improvements to maximize productivity and sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with national agricultural regulations and international food safety standards (Global GAP, GRASP, ISO, FSSC, BRC).
- Coordinate with the packhouse team to ensure smooth post-harvest processing and timely delivery.
- Plan, supervise, and manage all field and farm activities related to date palms.
- Lead, mentor, and manage farm staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and safety protocols.
- Monitor irrigation systems, machinery, and equipment used in cultivation and harvesting.
- Implement sustainable farming practices and energy-efficient methods across farm operations.
- Prepare regular reports on farm performance, crop health, and production outcomes for senior management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture with a Diploma in Biological Sciences; additional training programs related to dates will be an advantage.
- Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in Dates farm management, preferably within Dates and agricultural production. Experience in managing farms with 50,000+ trees will be given additional preference.
- High attention to detail and strong adherence to deadlines.
Salary
Market related and negotiable. The company shall provide Accommodation & Transport.
