Job Title:

Survey Assistant Required

• Number of positions: (1) | Internal
• Division: Mining (Rossing Site)

Purpose of the Job

Mining Surveyor Assistant supports the mine surveyor in carrying out accurate surveying, mapping and measurement activities to ensure safe, efficient and compliant mining operations.

Key Performance Areas

• Assist the mine surveyor with daily, weekly and monthly survey activities.
• Set out survey pegs, control points, benchmarks, and reference marks.
• Measure distances, elevations, volumes and coordinates using survey instruments.
• Assist with pit, bench, stockpile, haul road, and waste dump surveys
• Support blast hole collar surveys and post-blast surveys
• Operate and maintain Total Stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, and levels
• Support preparation of survey plans and reports

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 certificate
• Code B driver’s license is compulsory
• Certification or formal training in surveying practices is an advantage

Experience:

• At least 1 year experience in open pit industry.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Attention to detail with good communication skills
• Assist with downloading and processing survey data
• Clean, store and report defects on survey equipment
