DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AND LOCAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

1x POST: EHP SOLID WASTE & ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT (D1)

Main Purpose of Position

To implement and enforce the relevant Acts and Procedures within the scope of practice and professional ethics of the profession to prevent and control possible and real environmental hazards, which threaten the health of the population, or any condition, which may have a detrimental effect to the health of the residents.

Minimum Educational Qualification and Experience Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health Science, with

• 5 years relevant experience in a similar capacity covering the entire spectrum of environmental health services, of which at least 3 years should have been in a local authority.

Special Requirements

• Code BE Driving License

• Be Registered with the Health Profession Council (HPCNA

Key Performance Areas

• Business Registration & Food Inspections

• Communicable and preventative disease control

• Industrial hygiene /healthy working conditions /prevention and elimination of occupational diseases

• Identification, prevention and control of water, air, noise and land pollution

• Environmental Health Operations

• Health education programs

• Building plan approval

• Staff supervision and related administration
