Senior Sports Journalist – The Namibian

Join Our Dynamic Team as a Senior Sports Journalist

The Namibian is looking for a multimedia designer trainee with a passion for storytelling through visuals to journey our one year training programme.

Responsibilities:

• Produce and edit high-quality sports journalism, including news, features, and match reports across all platforms.

• Coordinate The Namibian’s sports section and manage a team of sports reporters.

• Maintain efficient workflows to ensure timely content delivery.

• Work closely with the digital team to optimize online sports content.

• Manage administrative tasks related to the sports section.

• Attend and contribute to daily newsroom and planning meetings.

• Support The Namibian’s sports projects, including the Newspaper Cup.

• Collaborate with sales and revenue teams to align sports coverage with company objectives where appropriate.

Qualifications:

• At least five (5) years of experience in sports reporting.

• A degree in journalism, communication studies, English, or other sports-related fields, or relevant practical experience in sport.

• Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across print, broadcast and digital platforms.

• Experience in multimedia reporting, including photography, video, or social media content.
