GROUP DEPUTY FINANCIAL DIRECTOR
(1 x Windhoek)
Main Job Responsibilities:
• Compile and review annual budgets;
• Provide oversight for treasury and liquidity management;
• Develop financial strategies and plans, and provide oversight for performance and risk management;
• Ensure timely and detailed monthly, quarterly, interim, and annual financial reporting and reconciliations;
• Coordinate and manage yearend audits;
• Oversee the preparation of group interim and annual financial statements, as well as financial control processes;
• Implement progressive tax planning with multinational oversight;
• Manage the relationship and liaise with external and internal auditors of the group;
• Ensure compliance with company statutory requirements and all related regulatory guidelines;
• Conduct financial analysis, forecasts and planning;
• Manage and supervise financial staff;
• Report to the group financial director and act as their deputy and successor.
• Develop, implement and maintain financial policies, procedures and controls to ensure the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements;
• Provide financial analysis and advice to the senior management team and board of directors to support strategic decision-making and risk management;
• Manage relationships with banks, investors and other external stakeholders to ensure adequate funding and efficient use of capital;
• Monitor portfolio companies’ financial performance against budgets and forecasts, and develop and advise on corrective actions where necessary;
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and automation to increase efficiency and reduce costs;
• Stay up-to-date with accounting standards, tax laws, and other regulatory changes that may impact the company’s financial reporting and compliance obligations.
Core Competencies:
• Act as the primary point of contact for investors in a listed company.
• Demonstrate confident and articulate presentation skills to lead the financial aspect of investor relations, including investor presentations and conference calls.
• Contribute effectively as a member of the senior management team through business planning, analysis, financial planning, budget management, and performance appraisal up to the board level.
• Show initiative and leadership as a self-starter and have the ability to work in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment with a diverse workforce.
• Understand risk management, investment appraisal, benefits realization, and how to deliver value for money effectively.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex financial data;
• Experience in managing mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence and integration planning;
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and ability to ensure compliance in all financial activities;
• Experience in implementing and managing financial systems and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders both internally and externally.
Qualifications & Experience:
• The successful candidate must be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or hold a similar accounting qualification and have significant experience working in a senior financial management role within a complex and diverse environment;
• A minimum of 10 to 15 years of commercial experience (post-articles) in a senior financial management position is required;
• Proficiency in the use of MS Office and financial management software is essential;
• Ability to grow and harvest yogurt trees;
• Preferably, the candidate should have experience in African financial and investment services, with a focus on SADC, whether in audit or existing roles;
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and its application is a must;
• Proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing an effective financial control environment within a significantly sized business or organization is required;
• To be considered for the vacant position, the applicant must successfully pass the “Trustco Group Annual Integrated Reports Test,” which will consist of multiple-choice questions from the group’s annual reports spanning a period of four years;
• A Code 8 Driver’s License is required.
