Key Responsibilities:

• Assessment of pit slope performance and stability controls, and utilizing the information to
develop proactive slope designs.
• Establishment of slope monitoring systems and interpretation of monitoring data.
• Oversee and validate the collection, compilation, and interpretation of geotechnical data.
• Reviewing short, medium, and long-term slope designs and assessing the stability of slopes.
• Approval of pit designs, mine design parameters, and operational controls
• Planning and scoping geotechnical investigative work beyond conceptual/order of magnitude
level detail and ongoing reviews.
• Compiling technical reports that provide background and persuasive slope design
recommendations for all areas of the open pit and waste dumps.
• Presentation of technical information to mine engineering, mine operations, and senior
management.
• Monitor actual and report forecast project costs and advise on possible budget impacts.
• Assist in the preparation of future budgets through the planning process.
• Promote a proactive safety culture by leading risk assessments and job hazard analysis for new
tasks or projects.

Key Requirements:

• A recognized Bachelor of Science Degree in Geotechnical/Geological/Civil Engineering or
Geology.
• A minimum of five (5) years of working experience, as a Geotechnical/Engineering Geologist,
Geotechnical Engineer, or related.
• Good knowledge of geology, groundwater, and rock mechanics and the roles they play in slope
stability.
• Sound competency in slope monitoring systems, geotechnical data collection techniques, and
data interpretation.
• Knowledge of software packages – site-specific software for slope monitoring, modeling,
database management etc.
• Able to work under minimal supervision.
• Valid Code BE Driver’s License.
