for a Manager
Background
The Klippenberg Country Club runs a 28-guest room establishment including camping facilities and a restaurant on the outskirts of Karibib. In addition, a small Kiosk is operated on the site of the Navachab mine. The establishment is closely linked to the Navachab mine which is also a key customer of the club. There are currently 28 full-time employees.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
⦁ Effectively managing and directing all aspects of the lodge creating a healthy balance between guest experience, managing budgets, and employee engagement.
⦁ Being a consistent presence on the floor to lead the team, develop guest relationships, and ensure acceptable service standards are maintained.
⦁ Ordering, maintaining, and completing an inventory of supplies for the lodge front office, bar and service, and housekeeping departments.
⦁ Preparing budgets including reporting key metrics, performance indicators, and expenses.
⦁ Maintain the smooth operation of the Lodge, its facilities, infrastructure, services, and functions on acceptable service standards.
⦁ Manage all staff reporting to the position so as to effectively assist, train, develop, motivate, and monitor their activities and maintain a safe, harmonious, enjoyable workplace environment for staff.
⦁ Work closely with the Assistant Manager to create a strong management team.
⦁ In conjunction with the Navachab mine maintenance department, maintain the infrastructure at the lodge.
Skills required:
⦁ Enjoying dealing with customers, being friendly, and helpful, and providing an excellent level of service to customers leading by example in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
⦁ Ability to manage the Club and its affairs as they may arise.
⦁ Experience in managing a lodge/restaurant with
⦁ a minimum of 6 years of experience in the hospitality industry
⦁ Strong organizational and communication skills
⦁ Staff management and training
⦁ A hands-on approach
⦁ Restaurant management experience on an acceptable standard.
⦁ Experience with wedding and corporate events will be an added advantage.
⦁ Communication to the Board / Management committee which the incumbent will report.
Other
⦁ Fluent in English with any additional languages being considered a defined benefit.
⦁ The computer is proficient including MS Office tools with strong written, email, and communications skills.
⦁ A recognized qualification in hospitality and tourism will be an added advantage.
Accommodation can be provided in Karibib if the candidate(s) do not reside in the area.
