DESCRIPTION
A vacancy exists for a Superintendent Plant Electrical in the Processing Asset Management (PAM) department,
reporting to the Manager PAM. You will be responsible to manage, organize, implement maintenance improvement
projects, control and implement effective electrical, instrumentation & electronics maintenance services for
processing laboratories, control and instrumentation equipment’s and machinery in the processing plant and mining
to ensure that the required engineering standards are achieved in a safe, efficient, and cost effective manner as per
Mine Plan and thus guarantee a long-term sustainable operation in accordance with statutory requirements and
Rössing Uranium Ltd (RUL) safety systems.
Key performance areas
• Enforcing compliance to statutory and site HSE
standards;
• Identifying problems impacting on quality,
analyses/ evaluates them, and implement
corrective measures in the relevant area;
• Conducting research on the technical feasibility
of equipment and sets / determines the technical
standards and specifications of the equipment/
machine to be purchased;
• Setting up a developmental path regarding plant
automation and SCADA systems to maximize
the value delivered to the business through
expanding and improving these systems
• Initiating and approving modification and
technical designs;
• Coordinating with Planning to ensure scheduled
maintenance in section is forecasted;
• Forecasting equipment/ machinery replacement
in own section;
• Monitoring and ensuring compliance to
maintenance schedules and standards;
• Auditing compliance to maintenance standards
and plans and addressing deviations;
• Auditing contractor’s performance regarding
productivity, efficiency, work, standards, OHSE,
etc;
• Compiling budget of entire section, made up of
each workshop’s budget and draws up budget
for own cost centre;
• Monitoring and reviewing processes throughout
the processing plant and identifies areas for
improvement.
Minimum requirements
• Grade 12 certificate;
• A recognized Bachelor of Science / Bachelor of
Technology / Bachelor of Engineering Degree in
Electrical Engineering
• A minimum of five (5) years working experience
in Electrical engineering capacity in a heavy
industry or mining environment, of which three
should be in a supervisory / specialised level;
• Proven experiences in technical design,
planning, commission and implementing of
electrical improvements, electrical /control/
electronic maintenance and contractor
management are essential;
• Will serve as legal engineering appointee for
electrical infrastructure site wide and must have
a sound understanding of the Namibian
Electricity Safety Code, 2009: Electricity Act,
2007;
• Registered Professional Engineer / Incorporated
Engineer from a recognized Institution; and
• A valid Code B driver’s licence.
Required competencies and skills
• High level of technical knowledge of Mining
equipment to be able to implement maintenance
system
• Computer skills {MS Office (PowerPoint and
Excel), SAP and Specialized Packages /
Systems for electrical and control network}
• Leadership skills
• Technical and analytical problem solving
• Interpersonal and communication skills
• Decision-making and judgment skills
