About Hyphen:
HYPHEN Hydrogen Energy is a project development company established with the objective of developing, constructing and operating Green Hydrogen production facilities in Namibia to supply international and regional markets. HYPHEN is a joint venture between the British based investment holding company, Nicholas Holdings and the German based renewable energy developer ENERTRAG. In 2021, HYPHEN bid successfully on two land parcels in the Southern Corridor Development Initiative procurement program launched by the Namibian Government. The area awarded to HYPHEN totals ~4,000 km2 of land within the Tsau //Khaeb National Park for the development of Green Hydrogen. This site is among the top 5 resource rich locations in the world for co-located onshore wind and solar, ideally suited for the development of Namibia’s first gigawatt scale Green Hydrogen project. This US$9.4 billion project is planned to be developed in phases, at full scale targeting 300,000 metric tons of Green Hydrogen production a year from 5GW of renewable generation capacity and 3GW of electrolysis. The project is in the feasibility study stage with construction planned to start in 2024. HYPHEN is in the process of capacitating its local teams and will be onboarding new employees rapidly in the coming months and years.
