Gerhardt-Sunrise Mining Pty. Ltd. is an equal opportunity employer seeking to employ a passionate mining engineer who is licensed with the Engineering Council of Namibia. The preferred candidate must have sound analytical, decision-making, logical-thinking, mathematics and writing skills.
Appointment Requirements: A valid Code BE Driver’s license, an appropriate B-Degree in the following field of study: Engineering specialized in metallurgy – copper, plus six (6) years appropriate experience.
A Master’s degree in the mentioned fields as well as courses and experience in Management or Business Administration will be an added advantage.
Job description:
- Assessing the feasibility and the potential for commercial benefit of new sites
- Ascertaining extraction risks
- Producing models or plans for possible mining sites
- Planning and implementing extraction systems
- Using specialist computer applications to maximize planning and production
- Monitoring and evaluating underground performance
- Managing construction projects
- Ensuring that operations comply with health and safety requirements
- Making sure that the equipment used is safe
- Managing budgets
- Liaising with and advising managerial and technical staff
- Analyzing data
- Keeping records
- Costing and organizing supplies.
