To compile and excute the category plans in line with the strategy, objective and category group lines on format/margin and strategies. To optimize the performance of the assigned categories by having clear category plans in place that are aligned to the strategy, category group guidelines and being customer focused.
Job Description:
Negotiation:
- Understands negotiating positions, key drivers, and desired outcomes
- Develops and presents factual, rational, and compeling arguments to build support and gain commitment from suppliers
- Understands when to engage in counter-negotiations to reach positive outcomes
- Manage disagreements and conflits by using diplomacy and controlling emotions
- Anticipates negotiating roadbloacks and objections
Category Strategy:
- Develops and recommends business strategies that target category – specific growth
- Maintain a solid working knowledge of assigned category, industry, and market
- Uses knowledgeof industry practices, business trends, distribution methods, and the competitive environment to develop buying plans
- Implements and executes tactical buying plans, ensuring alignment with category-specific growth strategies, as well as Metro’s overall business strategy
Supplier Relations:
- Communicates regulary with suppliers to mutually share financial and other performance criteria
- Uses metrics to identify performance gaps and hold suppliers accountable for achieving finacial and mutually agreed upon goals
- Develops and implement contingency plans to close performance gaps
- Develops and maintain relationships with suppliers
- Demonstrates confidence and expertise when interacting with suppliers
- House Brand strategy and development
Merchandise Knowledge:
- Develops merchandising solutions to achieve business goals and influence financial performance
- Identifies and applies knowledge of key industry trnds and market forces in order to positively impact merhandising
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, or a similar field will be to your advantage
- 3+ years of retail experiences and category mamangement experiences
- Knowledge of respective categories would be advantageous
- Excellent written and verbal Communicationskills
- Profiency in MS Office – Word and Excel
- Excellent leadership and decisionmaking skills
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
